Colour

I know that certain colours suit me really well and I try to buy those colours - pink mostly!  But how come there are still loads of clothes in your wardrobe that fit you fine, flatter your shape, but just don't look right somehow?  These are the clothes that fill your wardrobe and give you the "I haven't got anything to wear" moan!

I have two similar very flattering dresses - one in shades of aqua/teal/jade and one in red.  When I wore the first one on holiday, I had numerous compliments, but when I wore the second, no-one said a thing.  So why was that?  I wasn't looking for compliments - it just seemed peculiar that so many people thought I'd dressed up in one and not the other.  I began to think maybe it was something to do with the colours and started to look into getting a colour analysis done by an image consultant.

Although you can't really get your colours done on the web, we did find one website which could give you an approximate idea.  Be warned that this website splits people up into 12 different types, so don't go chucking out all the clothes in the "wrong" colours just yet!

Once you have found your colour type, you can then order the colour swatch, or just make a note of the colours yourself. The picture shows "soft summer".

Now that you've got a bit of an idea, you might want to consider going to get your own, personalised colours done by an image consultant.  However, the chart of colours it suggested for me is so spot on that I'm going to work with it for a while and see what I think.
